Everything you need to record and send your B-SIDE mix. Read it before you submit.

THE IDEA

B-SIDE is the set you never get booked for. Pick a sound that sits outside your usual lane, the one nobody associates with your name, and record an hour in it. This is the version of you that lives on the other side of the record.

THE BRIEF

Go further than you think you should. This is not a peak time set and it does not owe a dancefloor anything. Treat the hour as room to do the thing you have always wanted to try and never had the space for. Take the risk, follow the idea all the way down, and build something that surprises even you. The further it sits from your usual output, the closer it is to the point. We would rather hear something flawed and brave than something safe and clean.

WHAT IS ALLOWED

Back to back. Two or more artists on one mix is welcome, credit everyone.
A DJ set or a live set. Either works.
Edits, bootlegs, unreleased and unfinished material. Encouraged.
Any genre, as long as it is not the one you are known for.

REQUIREMENTS

New recording, made for B-SIDE. Not an old set, a released mix, or an archive rip.
One continuous mix. A single file, beginning to end.
60 minutes, within 5 minutes either way (55 to 65).
WAV format. 44.1 or 48 kHz, 24 bit preferred and 16 bit minimum, stereo.
Recorded and mixed by you, or by the artists on a back to back.
Clean levels. Leave headroom, no clipping and no heavy master limiting.
A downloadable link to the mix (Drive, Dropbox, Soundcloud), not stream only.
A full tracklist in play order, with title and artist.

RIGHTS

We post to Soundcloud, which scans for copyrighted material. Unreleased, self made, edited or rights cleared selections give your mix the best chance of staying up in full. If you know a track is likely to be flagged, tell us first.

HOW IT GOES OUT

If your mix makes the series it is pressed into the catalog with its own number, given artwork in the B-SIDE style, and released on Soundcloud and the B-SIDE page, credited to you. We confirm your number and release date once we have the file.
